“Türkmenpoçta” Communications Company to Be Connected to the International Digital System of the Universal Postal Union

On January 24, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov chaired a regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers via a digital system, during which a number of pressing issues of state importance were discussed.

During the meeting, the Director General of the Agency of Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers, M. Chakyyev, reported on the ongoing efforts to strengthen partnerships with international organizations to advance digitalization in the communications sector.

It was noted that Turkmenistan has been a member of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) since 1993. The UPU has introduced the use of the “International Postal System” (IPS) digital system by all postal operators to streamline international postal exchange operations. The system includes software that enables efficient mail management and electronic data exchange.

Connecting the country’s designated postal operators to this system will enhance their competitiveness at the international level and promote the development of e-commerce.

In this regard, the Director General of the Agency presented a corresponding proposal for the consideration of the head of state.

After hearing the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that Turkmenistan places great importance on the development of digital systems and the establishment of mutually beneficial cooperation with relevant international organizations, including the Universal Postal Union.

He highlighted the importance of leveraging the capabilities of the digital system to align postal services with international standards and to improve the professionalism of specialists. Approving the proposal to connect the “Türkmenpoçta” postal company of the “Türkmenaragatnaşyk” agency to the UPU’s international digital system, the head of state instructed the Director General of the Agency to carry out the necessary work in this direction.
