
On January 24, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov chaired a regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers via a digital system, during which a number of pressing issues of state importance were discussed.
During the meeting, the floor was given to the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs, R. Meredov, who reported on the outcomes of the visit of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Hero-Arkadag Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the Principality of Monaco, which took place on January 19–20.
This year, which has been declared the International Year of Peace and Trust, marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, giving this visit special significance. In this context, it was noted that Monaco supports the initiatives of neutral Turkmenistan put forward at the United Nations in the interests of global peace and sustainable development.
During the meeting on January 20 between the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and Prince Albert II of Monaco, the priority areas of bilateral relations, as well as current issues on the global agenda, were discussed. The parties reaffirmed their commitment to expanding constructive cooperation, including within the framework of authoritative international structures. Emphasis was also placed on the resolution initiated by Turkmenistan at the United Nations General Assembly, “2025: International Year of Peace and Trust,” under which a number of major events are planned.
In this regard, Hero-Arkadag invited Prince Albert II to participate in the upcoming forum in Ashgabat dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s neutrality. The invitation was gratefully accepted.
The negotiations focused on expanding interstate cooperation, particularly in the field of environmental protection, where Turkmenistan and Monaco are advancing important initiatives. Significant attention was also paid to humanitarian dialogue. In this context, the prospects for establishing contacts between the Princess Grace Foundation and the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Children in Need of Care were highlighted.
Among the priority areas of cooperation, the continuation of partnership in the space sector was also identified.
It was emphasized that Turkmenistan and Monaco are actively engaged in the development of sports and the Olympic movement on the global stage, creating broad opportunities for fruitful collaboration.
In the context of discussing ways to enhance cooperation in culture and the arts, special mention was made of the successful performance of the “Galkynyş” National Equestrian Games Group at the International Circus Festival in Monte Carlo, where they were awarded the Golden Prize and special awards. This is a clear result of Hero-Arkadag’s extensive efforts to develop national equestrian sports and circus arts, which have reached a global level.
In this regard, it was emphasized that this visit by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, will elevate relations between Turkmenistan and European countries, particularly the Principality of Monaco, to a qualitatively new level.
Summarizing the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted the great importance attached to the development of cooperation between the homeland and countries around the world, including the Principality of Monaco, stating that there are significant prospects for strengthening and expanding this interaction. In this context, the head of Turkmenistan emphasized the importance of taking appropriate steps to enhance bilateral partnership.
